Pillow Talk

I glanced at Ethan at the dining room table, he was trying to hide what he was writing. I pretended not to notice what he was doing and went about setting the table. I had a inkling that he was doing something for me or Jason by his sheepish look. I figured I would not ask him and wait and see.
We called the boys to the table for dinner and Ethan was upstairs, he said he went to the bathroom but I have a feeling he was completing his secret mission, the one he began at the dining room table. I didn't question his motives for being upstairs and we enjoyed our grilled cheese and fruit salad.
Later that evening I had forgotten to see what Ethan was up to and Jason said, "have you been upstairs yet?" I had not so I went up to our bedroom to see what he was referring to. On our pillows were 3 sticky notes. One on Jason's pillow that said in bubble letters "I love dad" and then another note with bubble letters that said "And" that was placed between our two pillows and thirdly a note on my pillow that said "I love mom."
It was so sweet to see an act of love that was not coerced or requested. He did this all on his own. I am not sure where he learned to put notes on pillows but I think his future wife will find it to be a very endearing quality.
